Educational and Child Psychology

Emma Hammonds provides assessment and recommendations of Special Educational Needs and Specific Language Impairment. Emma also assesses & treats emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties through Child-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Emma is a Chartered Consultant Child and Educational Psychologist and a Postgraduate member of the British Psychological Society. She has experience working within:

  • Child Clinical Psychology Departments
  • Educational Psychology Service in a Local Education Authority context
  • The Dyslexia Institute providing independent assessment and advice

  • Working with parents/carers and families
  • Pre-school /early years - Assessment of development in the early years (2 onwards)
  • School-aged pupils
  • Special Educational Needs - Assessment and recommendations to parents, schools and other professionals in relation to specific learning difficulties, for example:
    • Dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia
    • Dyspraxia and developmental co-ordination disorder
    • Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder
    • Autistic Spectrum Disorder
    • Asperger's Syndrome
    • Specific Language Impairment
    • Central Auditory Processing Difficulties
  • Exam board reports e.g. GCSE, A Levels and Universities: requests for extra time and other Special Arrangements in exams, specialised provision e.g. laptop
